Welat TV – Erbil
A child lost his life, and two others were seriously injured because of a landmine explosion in the village of Um al-Kaif in Tel Tamr countryside, north of Hasaka city.
According to local sources, the explosion occurred on Friday, 16 May 2025, while the children were playing with a landmine they had found in the village.
They added: “The child who died was ten years old,” noting that the other two children were seriously injured and transferred to a hospital in Hasaka for treatment.
According to a Human Rights Watch report released on 8 April, at least 249 people, including 60 children, have lost their lives, and 379 others have been injured by remnants of war since the fall of the Assad regime on 8 December 2024.
These remnants of war continue to claim civilian lives across all regions of Syria, posing a significant challenge to the new authorities in their efforts to stop the ongoing human toll, despite the end of the war and the fall of the Assad regime.
