Welat TV – Erbil
The Syrian Ministry of Energy announced the export of 600,000 barrels of heavy crude oil from the Tartous terminal aboard the Nissos Christian tanker to the international company BServe Energy.
In a statement on Monday, September 1, 2025, the ministry said the shipment is part of government directives and the General Petroleum Administration’s strategy to strengthen Syria’s presence in international oil markets.
The ministry described the move as significant for revitalizing the oil sector and enhancing cooperation with global companies, noting that further export operations are planned in the coming period.
U.S. Plan to Rebuild Oil Fields
U.S. network CNBC previously reported on a strategic plan involving American companies cooperating with Syria to develop the oil and gas sector.
According to the report published on May 26, 2025, the plan includes establishing a new Syrian national oil company under the name SyriUS Energy to rebuild the country’s energy sector. The five-phase strategy ranges from rehabilitation to full-scale exports.
Most of Syria’s oil fields were damaged or neglected during the 14-year conflict, with the majority of productive fields currently under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Before 2011, Syria’s oil production was estimated at around 350,000 barrels per day.
