Academic Journey

Amid the Challenges of Displacement Despite the hardships of refugee life and family responsibilities, Media persevered in pursuit of her academic goals, driven by her belief that “knowledge is salvation.”

In an exclusive interview with Welat TV on Sunday, November 9, 2025, Media described her studies in human rights and governance as “a transformative journey filled with experiences that strengthened my faith in equality and justice, and gave me the strength to be a voice for those who have not been heard.”

Over a Decade of Professional Experience

Media explained that she has been working with international organizations for about 14 years, and decided to further her education in the field of human rights. She praised German universities for their academic excellence, and credited her family’s encouragement—especially her father’s and relatives’ political engagement—for motivating her pursuit. She clarified that she is not affiliated with any political party, emphasizing her commitment to serving Kurdish causes as an independent and patriotic activist.

Balancing Education and Family Life

Although her academic path was demanding, Media described it as “challenging yet deeply fulfilling.” She shared her lifelong passion for learning and reaffirmed her commitment to women’s rights, striving to maintain balance and harmony between her academic ambitions and family life. She also expressed deep gratitude to her husband and family for their unwavering support throughout her journey.

Perseverance as a Form of Freedom Media dedicated her success “to everyone who believes that perseverance is a form of freedom, and patience is a form of resistance.” She added that her studies were not merely academic but a journey of conviction, one that deepened her belief in justice and equality, empowering her to amplify silenced voices through knowledge and advocacy.

Aspiration to Return and Serve Her Homeland

In closing, Media expressed her wish to return to her homeland and contribute to the service of her people. She reaffirmed her ongoing engagement with the Kurdish diaspora, offering academic and advisory support to students and professionals abroad.

A long-time human rights activist, Media Gaddo has worked with humanitarian organizations for many years.
