U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that his recent meeting with Syrian Transitional President Ahmed al-Sharaa at the White House was constructive, pointing to the role of Saudi Arabia and Turkey in lifting sanctions on Syria and giving it an opportunity to rebuild.

During a press conference on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, following his meeting with the Saudi Crown Prince at the White House, Trump said that Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan “asked me to lift sanctions on Syria to give it a chance to rise again,” adding that the meeting with President al-Sharaa was “constructive.”

Regarding relations with Saudi Arabia, the U.S. President explained that cooperation with Riyadh would open up new job opportunities and that there would be cooperation in nuclear energy, describing Saudi Arabia as a “major ally.”

The Saudi Crown Prince arrived in Washington yesterday on an official visit to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, particularly investment and the military sector.
