Sources reported that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian army have reached a de-escalation agreement in the Maadan area of Raqqa’s countryside, following a meeting attended by the U.S.-led Global Coalition against ISIS, which urged both sides to calm tensions and adhere to the March 10 agreement.

According to the German Press Agency (DPA), the sources said the SDF demanded during the meeting—held on Friday, November 21, 2025—that the Syrian army withdraw from the positions it had seized. However, the army refused, noting that it had retaken the points SDF fighters infiltrated over the past two days.

The agreement comes after renewed clashes between the Syrian army and the SDF last Wednesday evening along the Maadan axis, where hostilities escalated near the village of Ghanem al-Ali.
