SDF: Chiya Kobani Assumes Role as Deputy Commander of the 60th Division Under Integration Process

The Syrian Democratic Forces announced that senior commander Haji Mohammad Nabo, widely known as Chiya Kobani, has officially assumed his duties as Deputy Commander of the 60th Division, as part of the implementation of the January 29 agreement.

In a statement issued on Friday, March 27, 2026, the SDF said the step comes within the framework of restructuring military relations and integrating the SDF’s combat capabilities into the Syrian defense system, aiming to unify defense efforts and enhance operational efficiency in addressing security challenges.

The forces emphasized that these measures are being carried out while maintaining the priority of protecting civilians and ensuring regional stability amid ongoing security developments.

Earlier this month, on March 10, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced the appointment of Sipan Hamo as Assistant Minister of Defense for Eastern Region Affairs, as part of an agreement aimed at integrating SDF forces into state institutions.
