Afrin: Returning Families in Camps Face difficult Conditions Amid Lack of Basic Services

Dozens of families returning to their homes in Afrin are facing difficult living conditions amid a lack of basic services and aid, with calls to improve their situation and meet their basic daily needs.

Residents of one of the camps lack many basic necessities, suffering from insufficient humanitarian support and the absence of visits by relevant authorities to assess their conditions.

Displaced Residents Speak of Ongoing Hardship

Zain al-Abdin Musa, a displaced person returning from Hasaka, said that families were forced to seek refuge in the camp after losing their homes, explaining that his home in Aleppo was destroyed by shelling. He added that they suffer from a lack of healthcare and basic necessities, noting that there are children and people with disabilities in need of assistance.

Mohammed Hussein Mohammed Ali, another displaced person returning from Hasaka, said they need relief supplies and aid amid a lack of job opportunities and delays in receiving their salaries.

Camp Administration: No Visits to Assess Needs

For his part, camp administrator Muhammad Hamo said the camp houses 55 Kurdish and Arab families, noting that residents rely on the camp administration’s efforts to provide basic services, such as water and electricity, in the absence of support from relevant organizations, despite the presence of patients, children, elderly people, and people with disabilities.

Calls for Improved Services

Zainab Khokha called for the provision of water, electricity, and food aid, as well as the establishment of schools and health centers, emphasizing that their suffering has been ongoing for a long time.
