Syrian Energy Ministry Raises Petrol and Diesel Prices, Keeps Gas Prices Unchanged
Welat TV – Erbil
The Committee for Pricing Petroleum Products, affiliated with the Energy Services Directorate at Syria’s Ministry of Energy, announced a new adjustment to the prices of petroleum products in a price bulletin issued on Friday, September 4, 2026.
The committee decided to raise the prices of petrol and diesel by 5 new Syrian pounds per liter, with the new prices taking effect immediately on Friday.
Petrol and Diesel Prices Rise, Gas Prices Remain Unchanged
Under the new adjustment, the official prices of petroleum products are as follows:
-95-octane petrol: 152 Syrian pounds per liter.
-90-octane petrol: 147 Syrian pounds per liter.
-Diesel: 125 Syrian pounds per liter.
Meanwhile, gas prices remained unchanged. A household gas cylinder continues to cost 1,470 Syrian pounds, while an industrial gas cylinder remains priced at 2,350 Syrian pounds.
Oil Market Fluctuations and Exchange Rates Behind Price Adjustment
The committee said the latest adjustments were made in response to continued fluctuations in global oil markets and in line with a review of domestic factors affecting costs. It noted that the pricing mechanism is influenced by several key factors, most notably fluctuations in exchange rates and import and production costs, all of which have a direct impact on the cost and domestic prices of petroleum products.
New Prices Compared with Previous Rates
Before Friday’s increase, the prices of petroleum products in Syria were:
95-octane petrol: 147 Syrian pounds per liter.
90-octane petrol: 142 Syrian pounds per liter.
Diesel: 120 Syrian pounds per liter.
Accordingly, the price of 95-octane petrol increased from 147 to 152 Syrian pounds per liter, while 90-octane petrol rose from 142 to 147 pounds. The price of diesel also increased from 120 to 125 Syrian pounds per liter. Prices for both household and industrial gas cylinders, however, remained unchanged.
