Preparations are underway for the return of more than 700 displaced families to the countryside of Sari Kaniye.

The Sari Kaniye Displaced Persons Committee said preparations are being made for around 725 families currently residing in camps in Hasaka to return this week to their homes in the countryside of Sari Kaniye, Til Tamr, and Zirgan.

The committee also said it is awaiting the completion of coordination with the Presidential Team and the committee tasked with overseeing the returns, particularly regarding security arrangements inside the city of Sari Kaniye, to prevent a recurrence of the incidents that occurred during the first convoy.

On Thursday, Deputy Governor of Hasaka Ahmad al-Hilali told Welat TV that large convoys of displaced people would return to their homes in the coming days. He said the returns would take place in accordance with security and administrative preparations to ensure the safety of those returning.

On August 10, the first convoy of displaced people from Sari Kaniye returned from the Hasaka countryside.

The convoy came under attack by non-local residents, resulting in injuries and material damage.
