The Syria Without Restrictions initiative, Unblock Syria, announced on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, that the ban on Google’s artificial intelligence service Gemini in Syria had been fully lifted after more than seven months.

The initiative said in posts on its official accounts that it had directly verified with Google that the nationwide restriction had been removed and that the service was now available to users in Syria.

According to Unblock Syria, the status of the service has changed from “Blocked” to "Available" after its blocking was documented in January 2026.

The initiative said efforts to communicate with Google over lifting the restriction had continued for seven months.
