People’s Assembly Holds First Meeting with Permanent Committee Chairs

The Syrian People’s Assembly held its first meeting with the chairs of its permanent committees on Sunday, September 13, 2026, to discuss parliamentary working mechanisms and organize the committees’ responsibilities for the coming period.

The Assembly said the meeting focused on explaining the committees’ working procedures and the process of reviewing, discussing, and drafting legislation.

Participants also stressed the need to comply with the Assembly’s internal regulations and adhere to applicable laws throughout all stages of the legislative process.

The meeting also heard from committee chairs, who presented their observations and proposals based on the respective areas of responsibility of their committees, with the aim of organizing parliamentary work and standardizing its procedures.

The committee chairs agreed on a work schedule and mechanisms for receiving draft laws and legislative proposals, reviewing and discussing them, and referring them to the Assembly in accordance with established procedures.
